Member Agreements // Code of Conduct

Member Agreements // Code of Conduct

Members are expected to remain in good standing with Cowgirl Artists of America and the broader art community by behaving in a professional, respectful, and ethical manner. The following guidelines clarify these expectations, though they are not exhaustive. CGA reserves the right to determine what constitutes unprofessional or unethical conduct, and to suspend or revoke membership at any time if necessary.

Member Expectations

  • Members are expected to act professionally in all business dealings, interactions, and while attending art events.

  • Members must not engage in unethical conduct, including but not limited to copyright infringement or any behavior generally recognized as unprofessional within the art community.

  • Members take responsibility for their commitments. When applying for or participating in shows or opportunities (inside or outside CGA), members will uphold their obligations, meet deadlines, communicate proactively if issues arise, and accept the organizer’s decisions regarding what can or cannot be accommodated.

  • Members will communicate respectfully and professionally with the CGA team at all times.

  • Members must abide by all CGA terms and conditions.

  • Members must refrain from political discussions (including partisan speech, debate, or advocacy) on CGA platforms and at CGA events. This is a professional space focused on art and the business of art.

  • Members must respect one another’s privacy. Information shared within member platforms may not be shared outside CGA without permission.

  • Members may not share any CGA member-only resources, including downloads, information, content, files, templates, media, or other materials. All CGA materials are proprietary, copyrighted intellectual property created exclusively for CGA members. They may not be copied, edited, distributed, taught from, or repurposed in any way without written permission. (See Terms and Conditions.)

  • Members may not behave or speak in a violent, threatening, suggestive, harassing, or demeaning manner.
  • Members must not engage in gossip, rumor-spreading, misrepresentation or facts, or behaviors that harm others or the community.

  • Members are expected to contribute to a positive, supportive community experience through their actions and words.
  • Art created in part or in whole using generative A.I. is not permitted in CGA events, shows, member spaces, or any CGA-affiliated areas.

Addressing Issues or Concerns

If you have questions, concerns, need support, or require clarification, please email us at info@cowgirlartistsofamerica.org. We will always do our best to help, provide guidance, troubleshoot tech issues, or help answer any questions. Members agree to bring concerns directly to CGA leadership rather than spreading rumors, assumptions, or negativity within or outside the community. CGA is a positive, supportive, professional environment built on lifting one another up.

This Agreement may be updated as CGA grows, and members agree to abide by the most current version.

Additional explanations and examples

Professionalism is a combination of several things:

*presenting yourself in a professional manner. For example dressing nicely for an art show opening, and speaking in a professional way.

*running your business in a professional way. For example communicating clearly with your clients, meeting deadlines or clearly communicating delays, follow through with what you say you will do.

*behaving ethically. For example ensuring that all your work is original and you are not copying or stealing from other artists.

*mature behavior. For example, you do not gossip, spread rumors, or badmouth others. You do not create or fuel drama.

*Refraining from political talk in CGA hosted spaces. The CGA platform and events are just not the platform for that. This platform and organization are about art and the business of art.

To ensure a positive and supportive community experience, we ask that members promote kindness and respect towards one another and the organization, and report any concerns or issues to the CGA leadership team by emailing info@cowgirlartistsofamerica.org
